  • Personal Assistant duties may include assisting with personal care, social and educational opportunities, and accessing community facilities.
  • Personal Assistants (P.A.s) are employed to assist people who need support with Health or Social Care, to enable them to live as independently as possible in their home. Personal Assistants are employed by the person in receipt of Direct Payments and can be employed by one or more employers or by private (selffunding) people. They are entitled to the same employee rights as any other employee, such as paid holidays. Personal Assistants are not employed by Stockport Council.
  • Personal Assistants are paid an hourly rate that is set by their employer. The hourly rate depends on the individual employer's circumstances but starts at a minimum of £8.9
  • A Personal Assistant's hours can vary from a few hours once a week to a few hours each day. It could be during the day, in the evenings, weekdays or weekends.
  • If you haven't any previous experience of being a Personal Assistant, then don't worry as long as you have the right attitude and are willing to learn, that's what is important.
