Description
The Maternal Mental Health Practitioner will work as a member of the Maternal Mental Health Service.

The practitioner will contribute to assessments of and interventions offered to women and birthing people who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties as a result of perinatal loss (miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, termination of pregnancy), in order to promote psychological well-being and manage and reduce risk.

They will undertake clinical work in a range of settings, with a strong emphasis on trauma informed care and safeguarding.


Acting as a key member of the wider Maternal Mental Health Service team, the post holder will provide evidence based psychologically informed assessments and interventions, with supervision from a Clinical Psychologist, using a collaborative, trauma informed approach.

The post holder will be skilled at proactive and positive risk assessment and management where appropriate for a psychological service.

In addition, the practitioner will be expected to offer both assessment, advice and signposting to partners and to work in an integrated manner with key partner organisations and professionals.

The post holder will be required to provide consultative advice to other agencies and to participate in delivering training and development for other professionals.
