  • A rewarding job as an Activities Assistant has become available with our client, a charity who care and support older people. This role is based in the community centre where older people come to visit on a daily basis to take part in varies activities. This role includes, with a colleague collecting the older person from their home, which will be fairly close to the community centre, carry out activities and exercises with the older people. You will also need to provide personal care where necessary. Following a stimulating day at the day centre, you will and your colleagues will be required to take the older people back home.
    You will need to be a driver for this role, hold a British drivers licence and be happy to drive the company vehicle for collections and drop offs.

Some aspects of the role include:

  • Running and taking part in activities and programming across the community service, in line with agreed standards
  • Working collaboratively with the programming/coordinator teams to set up appropriate technology to support service users taking part in activities from home.
  • Carry out actions as indicated on a serviceusers care plan. This may involve working in collaboration with internal social work colleagues, relatives and external agencies.
  • Partner with the senior OT dementia Lead to promote dementia care.
  • Coordinate and participate in the effective and safe delivery of transport services across the older people services
  • Working with and supporting the manager and the specialisms of community, digital, dementia and programming to ensure that the community services team can effectively share best practice and work in partnership to deliver outstanding services
The skills, qualifications and experience you will need are as follows:

  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a frontline role, working with older and/or disabled people
  • Minimum 2 years' experience of working with people living with dementia in a personal or professional role
  • Experience leading a team of volunteers
  • Experience working in a complex multi stakeholder environment
  • Experience of or an interest in working in a coproduction culture
  • Knowledge of The Care Act, The Mental Capacity Act, DOLS and general adult safeguarding best practice
  • Ability to ensure continuously improve its services through rigorous management, monitoring and measurement against business plans, budgets, targets and KPIs
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to deliver a consistently highquality customer experience
  • Ability to work empathetically and respectfully with people of all ages and abilities
  • Outstanding administrative, management and organisational skills, with the ability to work within tight deadlines and budgets
  • Ability to use own initiative and work independently
  • Ability to handle challenging situations gently, with confidence and integrity
  • Ability to lead and be led amongst a highly creative and collaborative peer group
  • Ability to work in a team and build trusting relationships with others
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence people at all levels, both within and outside the organisation

  • High levels of IT literacy in the use of modern business systems e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and cloudbased services and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
