Major Recruitment are excited to be recruiting on behalf of our client, which is growing at a significant rate and appreciates their workforce, for a looking for an experienced Pipefitter welder.

Purpose of the Role
The purpose of the role is to manufacture, weld, assemble and install piping structures.


The Pipefitter welder will take direction and instruction from the assigned Project/Contracts engineer and assume responsibility for facilitating the day-to-day requirements of specific projects whilst on clients sites and in the workshop ensuring that you are working safely and efficiently whilst satisfying the needs of the business and the customer.

To emphasise the experience required, our clients' products and systems are all low-volume and uniquely designed to customer requirements, rather than standard high-volume catalogue products.


Key Responsibilities

  • Take instruction and guidance from the Contracts/Project engineer/ Workshop Manager and take the day to day responsibility and organisation of themselves whilst on specific projects on client's sites and in the workshop.
  • Ensure appropriate targets and time scales are achieved in line with project engineering and customer requirements
  • Assisting with the installation activities across various disciplines and within the assigned team.
  • Working to maximise manufacturing output, maintain efficiencies and reduce costs, in accordance with project engineering schedules.
  • Working to information provided regarding internal manufacturing requirements and reporting back any shortages to the Contracts/Project engineerManager in a timely fashion to allow efficiencies of design, purchase, and manufacture.
Work and adhere to risk assessments and method statements as to meet all legislative, business and customers' requirements.


Key Skills & Experience

  • Be competent (and confident) in the technical aspects of process engineering pipework manufacture, assembly, and installation ideally with a knowledge of special purpose machinery (gained within a similar industry or environment).
  • Experienced in hygienic stainlesssteel purge TIG welding of dairy, sched tube and ancillary items such as brackets and supports.
  • An understanding of temperaturecontrolled pipe work systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings such as P&IDs, layouts, and spool drawings.
  • Excellent team working and organisational skills, being able to prioritise requirements to meet demands from project engineering.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to communicate at all levels both internally and externally with customers, suppliers and HPS staff.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, being able to prioritise requirements to meet differing demands.
  • A supportive and encouraging approach to mentoring less experienced members of the team.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and with the ability to delegate when necessary.

Qualifications

  • 5 plus years' experience in a relevant production or engineering discipline.
  • Apprentice trained in a relevant mechanical engineering field.
  • Full and current British driving licence.
