This post is suitable for an experienced HCPC registered band 5 or a band 6 dietitian with a good grounding in general dietetics and some existing knowledge of diabetes.
The diabetes team consists of 3 dietitians who provide a service to all aspects of diabetes within the Super Six model of diabetes care in the Merseyside region; inpatient diabetes, poorly controlled type 1 diabetes, insulin pump services, antenatal diabetes and patients with diabetes requiring either foot or renal care.
We work very closely with the entire diabetes MDT, including Consultants, Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Podiatrists, ward and support staff.We provide specialist care to a wide population of Merseyside and the surrounding areas and we currently play host to one of the largest insulin pump services in the country.
You will be involved in out patient clinics, patient group education ( in particular carbohydrate counting) and in patient diabetes care within the Super Six.
You will also have the opportunity to gain experience in Young Adult and Insulin Pump Services and also be involved in service development, MDT meetings, clinical supervision and student training.
The current vacancy is in the Diabetes Team however there may be the opportunity to rotate to other specialist areas such as renal, surgical, gastro, stroke and infectious diseases.

To work with other health care professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team providing a high quality dietetic service to inpatients and outpatients of your clinical specialism.
The role also involves education of staff and patients.To provide factually accurate, unbiased evidence-based nutritional advice appropriate to the needs of the individual. Advice will be provided using a patient centred approach in the context of multi-disciplinary/multi-agency delivery plans.
