Hours: 37.5 per week (Monday to Friday, 9-5 PM)

Salary:
£12.00 per hour

Options for Care are looking to recruit a
Maintenance Assistant / Caretaker for our new hospital unit, Stanford Court (B12 0HG).


Stanford Court will be a 20-bed male mental health inpatient unit based in Balsall Heath, Birmingham. This will consist of a 15-bed enhanced care service and, contained within the building but outside the main service, five self-contained recovery flats to enable assessment skills in preparation for discharge.

You will be required to support our other units as per below:

Montague Court, 2 Montague Rd, Edgbaston, Birmingham B16 9HR. Montague Court is an 18-bed male long-term complex care mental health inpatient unit.


Dartmouth House, 70-72 Handsworth Wood Rd, Handsworth Wood, Birmingham B20 2DT. Dartmouth House is a 16-bed male long-term complex care mental health inpatient unit.


Orchard House, 95-97 Holly Lane, Erdington, Birmingham B24 9JP. Orchard House, an 8-bed community recovery home.


Your day-to-day duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service
  • Carry out a range of tasks, including basic joinery, plumbing, painting, decorating and redecorating & general building work
  • Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment & potential hazards
  • Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights
  • Assist in emergency evacuations and fire drills & carry out weekly fire checks
  • Liaise with external contractors
  • Ensure smooth running of equipment, including gas, electric, oil, and water installation
  • Complete maintenance checks identified in the maintenance manual and regulative checks
  • Ensure health & safety of self, Service Users, staff and contractors/visitors
  • Safe handling of equipment and chemicals
  • Being available for emergency call outs
  • Possess and maintain a valid driving licence
  • Travel to other sites & be on call to carry out emergency repairs outside of regular working hours


You will report daily to the Resources Manager and will be required to liaise with Service Users, staff and contractors/visitors.


What we look for:


  • You must have excellent organisational and planning skills and be a good communicator.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to fill out light paperwork are essential.
  • You should be able to work on your initiative and be part of the team
  • Experienced in all types of painting and decorating in both indoor and outdoor environments
  • Willing to travel & hold a full valid driving license
  • Able to communicate at all levels & record detailed, accurate maintenance information
  • Skilled in DIY & general maintenance
  • Preferably Level 2 Diploma qualified in Painting & Decorating/Maintenance
  • Friendly, conscientious & an excellent team member with a positive attitude
  • Have own vehicle and tools to carry out repairs

Up to £12.00 per hour
