Description

The department is actively involved in a number of national Orthopaedic Trauma trials and both consultants have been chief investigators for NIHR funded trials, namely KFORT and ACEfit (randomized trials looking at different treatments for distal femur fractures / acetabular fractures).The Orthopaedic Trauma Unit is staffed by 7 enthusiastic fellowship trained Consultant Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeons, providing daily cover for the complex Orthopaedic Trauma Theatre.

The fellow will be mainly working with Mr Hull, Mr Carrothers, Mr Rawal and Mr Chou all of whom have an interest in pelvic and acetabular surgery and complex trauma surgery.

Mr Carrothers and Mr Chou also have a specific interest in fix and replace for acetabular trauma, alongside a complex hip revision practice.

Around 120 pelvic and acetabular fractures are treated operatively each year.
