Head of Underwriting - Development Finance

Up to £120k basic,City of London


A truly unique and exciting opportunity has presented itself for a Head of Underwriting to join a renowned, specialist Lender.

We are looking for either an existing "Head of" or, a "Senior Underwriting Manager" that is looking to step up and progress theircareer.


The firm:

Our client is an established, and award-winning lender that specialises in providing Bridging and Development Finance to their clients.


Responsibilities:
(Not limited to)

  • Directly responsible for the Underwriting Team, and indirectly other members of the business.
  • Identifying areas of need in the Underwriting Department and be actively involved in recruitment.
  • Responsible for the evaluation of every loan, ensuring that credit guidelines are adhered.
  • Attend and contribute to all Heads of Terms and Credit Committee meetings as a voting member alongside other Senior Leadership.
  • Responsible for all elements of QC across all loans.
  • Responsible for reporting performance around underwriting and loan execution to Senior Management and Board Member's.
  • Responsible for the management of the company' third party supplier relationship, including Valuers, Monitoring Surveyors and Solicitors.
  • Overseeing and assisting with the design and implementation of the company's credit appetite/policy whilst maintaining a commercial view enabling them to lend at targeted volumes.
  • Promoting the company (and themselves), ultimately being publicly seen as a recognisable figure within the specialist finance industry using a variety of marketing channels.
  • The Head of Underwriting should be a "culture leader" of the business, demonstrating a strong work ethic and diligence while having a friendly and supportive approach to members of the team
  • 35 Years' UK property finance experience in either a Head of Underwriting, Senior Underwriting Manager or Senior Credit Manager role. (Essential)
  • Articulate and confident (Must be able to promote the firms Credit ethos and policy to both internal relations as well as external Investors/Funders)
  • A natural leader who is personable, driven, wellspoken and presented.
