Working hours of the Workshop Supervisor / Fleet Engineer / Workshop Controller / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Commercial Vehicle Workshop Controller / HGV Workshop Foreman / HGV Workshop Lead Hand / Workshop Charge Hand / Lead Technician / Fleet Supervisor:Monday to Friday Late shift - 13:00pm - 22:00pm


My client, who operate sites nationwide, are looking for an experienced and skilled Workshop Supervisor / Fleet Engineer / Workshop Controller / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Commercial Vehicle Workshop Controller / HGV Workshop Foreman / HGV Workshop Lead Hand / Workshop Charge Hand / Lead Technician / Fleet Supervisor to join them in the Flintshire area, at one of their HGV Fleet sites.


As the Workshop Controller / Workshop Lead Hand / Charge Hand you will be responsible for all the workshop activity and admin for the late shift, you will still be on the tools to assist the workshop, but it will be for small jobs and quality checking.

You will be responsible to plan and load the workshop for staff availability to achieve maximum productivity


Essential Functions / Responsibilities of Workshop Supervisor / Fleet Engineer / Workshop Controller / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Commercial Vehicle Workshop Controller / HGV Workshop Foreman / HGV Workshop Lead Hand / Workshop Charge Hand / Lead Technician / Fleet Supervisor:

  • Progress and maintain work through the workshop, prioritising repairs in line with customers' and/or business demands managed effectively through an open repair file
  • Minimise vehicle downtime by identifying the most economical repair method both in time and cost.
  • Ensure quality repairs are carried out in the workshop
  • Encourage good workshop practices to provide a safe and tidy, hazardfree working environment ensuring compliance with the Company's EHS Policy re: accurate data recording of equipment expiries eg ladder logs, axle stand test etc.
  • Control overtime working in line with maintenance requirements
  • Ensure all staff follow Company procedures and adhere to servicing and inspection schedules set out by the Company.
  • Make available to and encourage all workshop staff to read all service bulletin and product updates both from manufacturers and internal and encourage staff input.
  • Process paperwork in an accurate and timely manner within Company guidelines to include liquidity and efficiency measures
  • Ensure all admin for the workshop is completed and done
  • Assist the workshop when needed with small jobs on the Commercial Vehicles
  • Quality Check the work from the workshop
  • Whilst the above outlines the main duties of the post the list is not exhaustive and duties may need to change in the light of future developments or from time to time as directed by your supervisor or manager.

Qualifications for the Workshop Supervisor / Fleet Engineer / Workshop Controller / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Commercial Vehicle Workshop Controller / HGV Workshop Foreman / HGV Workshop Lead Hand / Workshop Charge Hand / Lead Technician / Fleet Supervisor:

  • "Time Served" technician or possess City & Guilds Full Technicians Certificate or any equivalent qualification.
  • Technical background
  • Must have HGV Workshop Controller / Workshop Foreman / Lead Charge Hand experience
  • High level of enthusiasm and commitment to driving 100% customer satisfaction
  • Excellent communication skills/ability to communicate at all levels with good use of questioning techniques
  • Basic knowledge of computers,
  • Customer centric mindset & professionalism
  • High level of organisation, ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work
  • Initiative to work autonomously
  • Ability to push back and challenge
  • Analytical and numerical approach to interpreting data


  • Driving License

  • Full and valid
