If you have experience of working with children who have SEN and Trauma & Attachment that would be amazing but not essential.

Empathy, patience and humour are a must

Start date:

ASAP

Job Title:
SEN Nanny

Location:
Trentham, ST4

Days/Times:
Term time 3pm to 7.30pm Monday to Friday

School holidays hours are: 9am to 7.30pm Monday to Friday

Rate of pay:
£14 per hour / £26,100 per annum

We are looking to find a lovely and experienced Trauma Informed/SEN Nanny to help us with our two wonderful children.

Our daughter is 11 and has a diagnosis of FASD and ADHD. Our son is 7 and has a diagnosis of Autism and ADHD. Both children are high functioning but need the care and nurture of a child younger than their chronological age.

Both our children came home to us via adoption and have Trauma and Attachment struggles. An understating of and/or experience of Adoption/Fostering/Trauma/Attachment would be highly advantageous.

Our children need to be supported by someone who understands their needs and struggles as well as talents and gifts and has a passion for working with children who have Trauma and Attachment (and and understanding of SEN).

You will need to have solid experience of both the joy and challenges this brings and your ability to cope with the more challenging times for example dealing with challenging anxiety driven behaviours which include demand avoidance controlling behaviours and, on rare occasion, include hitting, kicking etc from our son.

This is rare now but can still happen.

You must be honest, trustworthy, and reliable, must respect our family's privacy and always maintain dignity.

You must be kind, warm, patient, enthusiastic and flexible with a caring disposition and must be able to work on your own initiative and as part of the family.

You will need have the ability to drive the children safely and have access to your own vehicle. This is an absolute must.

Our PA must like animals both children love animals and we have a Labrador and visit lots of farms

You will need a brilliant sense of humour, buckets of empathy and love and a real sense of fun.

You will need to be physically fit - our children are active and on the go most of the day; they enjoy playing outside, running, and climbing and like to get out and about lots too visiting parks, soft play centres, farms, trampolining, swimming and Ninja Warrior etc.

Our son is physically demanding and always on the go - he is a fast runner, excellent at climbing, strong and tall for his age.

He always needs supervision and likes lots of 'piggy backs' and cuddles

Both our children are 'free range' they love nature and splashing in muddy puddles and picnics and thrive on the great outdoors in all weathers.

This is not a suitable role for someone who prefers a more sedentary or indoor role The kids are active, and you will need to be happy running around, building dens, sitting in tents etc to keep pace with the children.

Experience of dealing with and helping our children cope with anxiety-driven, challenging behaviours would be high advantageous.

Nurture, empathy and kindness must be at the very heart of your care.

This is a child focused role not a house keeping role. However you will need to be confident preparing food for the children.

You will need to be happy to help with bath tome and getting them ready for bed.

Doing reading with them for school, drawing, playing etc.

Taking the children to after school activities and getting out and about on advenutures in the holidays. Usually just one child, often with me too and on more rare occasions both children together.

If you are interested in joining us or want to know any more about the role I would love to hear from you.

I would be very grateful I you would write a paragraph or two about yourself and what you like to do, why you feel this role would suit you.
