Description

East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) is embarking on a very exciting journey to develop our specialist Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).

In 2021, NHS England confirmed additional funding to develop an interim acute mental health inpatient unit for Children and Young People in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

The development of the new service is being done in conjunction with children, parents and carers who have experience of in-patient admission.

Young people are helping us plan the ethos of the unit, recruit the staff and think about how we can deliver the best care.

The space will provide specialist, short-term care for children and young people aged 13-17 with severe or complex mental health difficulties.

You will be working alongside a diverse multidisciplinary team that reflects the population that we serve.

Our vision is to make a positive difference in Young Peoples lives by providing the highest quality mental health service to our local communities, to help them overcome some of life's challenges.

We are looking for a fantastic team of Support Workers to undertake direct or indirect care of a patient/ group of patients aged between 12-18 yrs, as part of the team, under the supervision of registered nurses within Evergreen.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve

Our values are:

We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.

Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will collaborate closely with families, the education provision and community teams in order to support and provide the best care to young people

This will include:

  • Developing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with Young People within appropriate professional boundaries
  • Supporting Young People with their therapeutic/treatment programmes
  • Be professionally accountable to the nursing team for the delivery of high quality care
This base is initially Calnwood Court at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital.

Prior to the units opening there will be an induction period and proactive reviews of young people currently placed out of area to work with our community teams to enhance intensive packages of care as alternatives to admission.

At the heart of our philosophy is working together and an emphasis on support to maintain well-being.
