About the role
We are working with multiple children's residential homes and specialist residential SEND services across Burton and the surrounding areas. And we have multiple new roles available full-time and on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience working with vulnerable children in the community.

You will be a part of a child's ongoing development and route to independence, you will be working with other professionals to help create a fun nurturing environment.

There is nothing better than watching a child grow and develop into a young adult with the knowledge that you have been a large part of that ongoing development.

What does a typical day look like?
It will all depend on the child that you are working with. You will help them get ready for the day and prepare breakfast.

Then they may be able to go into class, you will work with them alongside a teaching assistant for the day.

You may also take part in vocational activities like forest school or other outdoor activities depending on the child's ability or arts and crafts.


As regards the late shift, you would help the child prepare tea and maybe read or get settled for the evening.

Ready to hand over to the night staff.


Throughout the day and night, you will update their care plan and coordinate with other healthcare professionals depending on the day.

You will offer emotional support and build a strong relationship of trust with the child in your care which will flourish over time.


Contracts available

Full time.
Must be able to do both shifts :45 & 13:30-22:00)

Must be available to work 2 weekends out of -
This would be a permanent contract._


Experience needed
You do not need experience in order to be shortlisted but it would be great if you did.

The most important thing is to have a passion to make a difference in the lives of the children you work with and care for.

If you do not have experience don't worry full training will be provided.

  • A positive cando attitude.
  • The ability to build great relationships with pupils and parents.
  • You must be able to adapt to each child's needs in your care.
  • The desire to be a part of a child's ongoing development.
