We are looking to appoint 2 Cellular Pathology Consultants to join our friendly, well-established team.
Applicants should have completed Specialist Training and be entered on the Specialist Register of the GMC, or have a CCT or equivalent date in Histopathology within 6 months of the date of interview.
These Trusts are:
The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, (DGFT), The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, (RWT), Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, (SWBH) and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, (WHT).The BCPS provides a comprehensive pathology service to a population of approximately 1.76 million.
Applications are invited for a suitably qualified Consultant Cellular Pathologists to join the team of 32 consultants based at RWT.
The existing team of consultants have a close collaborative working relationship, meeting daily to discuss difficult cases and management matters.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES OF THE POST
To provide and develop with Consultant colleagues, a comprehensive Histopathology / Cytopathology / Andrology / post mortem examination service for the Trust and to collaborate with colleagues in all disciplines including primary and tertiary care, where appropriate, to achieve an integrated service for patients.
To provide specialist advice and skills training to colleagues from other disciplines as required for the optimum delivery of patient care.
To develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialities and participate in multidisciplinary meetings and other postgraduate meetings.
To demonstrate a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit - this will include the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices to ensure continued safe clinical practice.
To participate in the management of service within Cellular Pathology and where appropriate within BCPS.
To develop and maintain good communications with General Medical (and Dental) Practitioners and appropriate outside agencies.
To ensure own practice is up to date; this will include taking responsibility for own continued professional development and participating in the Trusts Performance Review.
To participate in annual appraisals and Job Plan review.
As a team member with the present Consultants to operate a system of cover for annual, study and professional leave.
To maintain professional standards and obligations as set out by the General Medical Council.
