Job Title:
Advice Worker**
Responsible to: CEO

JOB SUMMARY
Providing information, practical help, support, and advice to the Turkish and

Kurdish speaking communities living in North London mainly in Hackney,


Islington, Haringey and Enfield on welfare rights and benefits and act as an advocate if and when necessary so they can access benefits and other financial support, thus improving their quality of life.


DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maximizing income. This includes providing advocacy and followup casework to ensure that clients receive benefits and other support to improve their quality of life. This will be on a face to face appointment basis and by giving telephone support.
  • Providing information on welfare rights and benefits to the members of the
Kurdish and Turkish communities.

  • Providing direct advice to the clients on welfare rights and benefits. doing any followup work required for individual cases to ensure that a case is taken forward and completed. Assisting them in making claims, filling forms, and making telephone calls on their behalf.
  • Acting as an advocate to secure proper entitlement to benefits on behalf of clients.
  • Monitoring the needs of the Kurdish and Turkish communities in terms of welfare rights and advice.
  • Monitoring all inquiries made and problems related to welfare rights and benefits faced by the communities and providing quarterly monitoring reports.
  • Liaising with Turkish/Kurdish advocates in Hackney. Working closely with other teams and staff of the organisation.
  • Keeping abreast of all new legislation and changes in existing legislation on relevant and social policy and taking part in training and professional development as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality, act at all times in a professional way, take an active part in supervision and appraisal; and take part in opportunities for self
- development as agreed with the line manager, attend team meetings and participate as an active member of the team

  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the service, making recommendations to the director for further development of the service, promoting the organisation and working at all times to further the organisation's best interests.
  • Maintaining administrative systems and records.
  • Acting in line with and promoting policies and procedures of the organization and complying with all the relevant Acts.

£28,259.00-£31,944.00 per year
