    Job Title: Merchandiser

    About the Role

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Merchandiser to join our office team based in Havant. The ideal candidate will be within commutable distance to this office, as regular attendance is required.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop department product strategy in line with overall company objectives, proposing financial parameters and implementing successfully.
    • Create weekly and phase-level plans by channel and category for sales, margin, stock, and markdowns, taking traded history and planned future events into consideration.
    • Design a range plan at grade level that satisfies strategic channel, financial, and space requirements.
    • Collaborate with the DBMS team to develop and select a balanced and commercial range that delivers the product strategy, and secure approval from Management.
    • Work with the Buyer to plan seasonal pricing and promotional activity aligned with overall strategy, supported by financial evaluation.
    • Promote effective supplier partnerships through short, medium, and long-term plans, ensuring improvement and development of these relationships.
    • Conduct thorough weekly re-forecasting of line flows and department forecasts to maximize profitability while maintaining efficient stock controls, highlighting trading opportunities and risks, and proposing effective actions.
    • Review, propose, and cost markdown events and promotional activity, calculating their effect on margin and profit.
    • Manage stock availability to ensure maximum profitability, meet launch dates, and optimize sales and stocks across trading channels, including ordering with suppliers and managing stock progress into the business.
    • Engage in cross-functional activities as required, such as retail operations, visual merchandising, finance, logistics, and contribute to delivering the company's sustainability strategy.
    • Effectively manage and motivate your merchandising team through performance management, personal development, and appraisals, ensuring they understand their contribution towards company goals.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
    • Proven track record in Merchandising at either Junior Merchandiser/Merchandiser level.
    • Highly numerate and able to interpret data to inform decision-making, work to budgets, and financial plans.
    • Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels.
    • Ability to present complex technical information in an understandable way.
    • Strong presentation skills to all levels.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with ability to adapt to changing business needs.

    Working Hours

    Monday to Friday - 35 hours per week
