Purpose of Job

  • Planning and delivery of effective, academic and purposeful vocational education for learners' who; especially, but not exclusively, demonstrate difficulties in accessing mainstream education at Wirral and Cheshirebased schools.
  • Tutoring learners' new skills in educational and vocational areas.

Experience, Attributes

  • EXPERIENCE IN EDUCATION ESSENTIAL
  • A genuine desire and passion to improve the outcomes of vulnerable children
  • Be able to work under your own initiative and part of a supportive team
  • Teaching qualification or a commitment to achieve a recognised qualification

Main Duties, Responsibilities

  • Support learners' in developing new practical skills through a Learning Plan devised and implemented by you
  • Design bespoke learning plans and monitor learner progress through regular reviews
  • Ensure all Health and Safety, safeguarding procedures are adhered to during lessons
  • Work with key staff to ensure that any learning is of a high standard and monitored in line with WRAP expectations
  • Tutor learners, including those with poor or challenging behaviour in a variety of settings, including onetoone, small group and inclass support as well as in offsite activities.
  • Work with learners, staff and parents/carers to promote positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Work cohesively with the Head of Centre, tutors, and key stakeholders to deliver the strategic plan for alternative education.
  • Develop a range of strategies and support networks to help manage and improve learner behaviour and attitudes towards learning.
  • Using ICT systems to contribute to WRAP target setting, tracking and monitoring of learners' attendance, behaviour/attitude towards learning and work with staff to set targets and monitor progress.
  • Through strategic duty points, safeguard all learners throughout the day, including during unsupervised times

Health & Safety

  • Ensuring that area of work complies with legislation relating to Health & Safety and observing and implementing specific responsibilities in relation to these matters as detailed in WRAP policies.

Safeguarding

  • Be aware and familiar with WRAP policies and other guidance on the safeguarding and promotion of the wellbeing of children and young people. Taking the appropriate action in accordance with WRAP policies and Keeping Children Safe in Education 2019 where required.
  • Any other duties as may be requested by the Directors. The above duties do not define or include all tasks required of the post holder. Duties and responsibilities may vary without changing the level of responsibility

Salary:
£28,000.00 per year

  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Birkenhead, CH43 9LB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
