- THE ROLE
- Dean of the Institute of Management & Health
The post holder will be expected to provide strategic direction for the work of the Institute through the next phase of its development.
Building upon existing strengths, the post holder will be responsible for identifying and initiating new opportunities to optimise the Institute's creative potential, maximize income generation and assure quality and standards to secure the best student and staff experience.
Due to its successful growth, UWTSD now requires the expansion of its Business and Management School in Swansea. The Dean will work closely with PVC Commercial & Business Relations to lead this exciting and critical project.As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Dean will be responsible for ensuring that the Institute fully engages with each of the objectives of the University's strategic plan.
The postholder will work with the other Institute leads to develop cross-Institute initiatives, and with the University's FE partners to create meaningful learning pathways across the region.
The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of the Institute's strategic direction and future positioning within national and international contexts.
The post may require overseas travel.ABOUT YOU
To be considered as a Dean you will have:
- A track record of relevant applied research
- Demonstrate significant experience of strategic and operational leadership, preferably within a HE environment.
- Evidence of management skills that demonstrate experience of fostering interdisciplinary collaborative working both internally and externally.
- Evidence of successful grant acquisition and or income generation through creative programme innovation
- Appropriate experience of HR and financial management.
- Substantial leadership experience, gained at senior management level and a significant track record in developing and implementing successful business growth strategies that align with the corporate aims of the organisation.
- The ability to operate effectively and efficiently in a continually developing and changing HE sector context and be capable of motivating others to embrace change.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills which demonstrate sound judgement and maturity in the management of complex relationships.
