The purpose of this role is to deliver vehicle build projects efficiently and effectively ensuring the key objectives of time, cost, quality & customer satisfaction are achieved.

The role will be both internally and externally facing, and the postholdercan expect to engage extensively with customer stakeholders.


You will be responsible for creating the plan, arranging activities to deliver the plan, monitoring progress against the plan and making effective decisions to deliver the plan on time and within budget.

The role activity requires you to have a general understandingand comfort with H&S, commercial, finance, rail compliance, deliverables management and client communication.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing projects within the vehicle build sector [rail or automotive preferable]
  • Ability to think analytically and solve problems

  • The project manager is expected to travel to the various TDI sites and locations as demanded by the project
  • MS proficient

What will your role as a Project Manager look like?

  • Take responsibility for commercial handover and be fully accountable for the effective delivery of assigned projects
  • To plan all aspects of projects clearly identifying key engineering milestone dates. Also, to identify stage gates that trigger invoicing milestones
  • To liaise with the project finance accountant to control costs and maintain as sold margin position as a minimum
  • Arrange & lead regular formal project reviews
  • Manage and deliver project and programme documentation to the required standard
  • Ensure process engineers and procurement are delivering the elements required to make manufacturing successful
  • Prepare and issue weekly project updates to the senior team
  • Attend design review meetings, monitoring the designs to ensure the client's expectations are being adequately considered
  • To effectively communicate with Internal & External customers
  • Attend client sites and client meetings as required throughout the duration of the contract. This may involve assessing progress, H&S arrangements and effectiveness of facility installation (if facility installation is required)
  • Work with the Commercial Manager/Project Finance Accountant ensuring all contract variations (changes to original work scope) are negotiated in terms of cost and planned into the programme and changes in milestones are (re)negotiated with the internaland client team(s)
  • Communication is a key part of the role. The person will be comfortable with and expected to ensure that all relevant programme activity is effectively communicated, authorised and recorded.

This role is full time 35 hours a week, worked between the core business hours Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm.
