Job Purpose:

  • To manage the staff and resources of the service(s) to provide a positive living experience for all young people.
  • To ensure that you consistently provide a highquality service and to work alongside our referrals team to ensure that your units remain economically viable.
  • To liaise with the Head of Operations and carry out delegated tasks, as required.
  • To provide regular and effective supervision to staff within your team to support and develop them in their roles.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • To oversee the support, safety and development opportunities for all young people.
  • Ensuring that young people's outcomes are achieved and evidenced via weekly/monthly reports and other relevant documentation. Providing such evidence to Local Authorities as required and promptly.
  • To be responsible for the personal development and training of the staff within the service.
  • To liaise and cooperate directly with Local Authorities and other multiagencies.
  • To actively promote equal opportunities for all.

Activities:

  • To be linemanager to the staff teams within your services.
  • To take an active part in the recruitment and subsequent induction of new staff.
  • To ensure a high standard of provision of management, development and coordination of the company.
  • To ensure that agreed plans at the service are implemented.
  • To ensure that the Company Policies, Procedures and strategies are implemented.
  • To monitor and review the work practices of all staff in their daytoday work with young people and others that they encounter in carrying out their role.
  • To oversee each area of budgetary spending within your service, ensure that Key Workers are keeping within agreed limits and advise the Directors and Head of Operations as to the future financial needs of the service as required.
  • To identify, in conjunction with senior members of the team, future needs for the development of the company and the services it provides and to make proposals for any new work or physical and financial resources required.
  • To evaluate your service on a regular basis with the Directors and senior members of the team. To propose and manage the implementation of any changes required in service provision.
  • To account for any expenditure to the Finance Team.
  • To ensure information systems are effective and ensure a high standard of communication between all of those involved in managing those personnel working, living or connected with the service.
  • Ensure that all fire and Health & Safety Procedures are followed by monitoring and reviewing such procedures within your service.
  • To ensure that each member of staff has a personal training and development profile and that the team receive adequate training relative to their needs and the needs of the service.
  • To assist the Directors and Head of Operations in the management of the training.
  • To provide and record highquality formal supervision regularly to designated staff and ensure that others within your team and doing the same for those that they supervise.
  • To follow an agreed process for recruiting and endorsing staff appointments.
  • To oversee the development of a programme of regular staff appraisals, making appropriate recommendations and ensuring that the appraisals are carried out.

Assist the Directors and Head of Operations by:

  • Suggesting any need for changes in the staffing structure at each service and implement any changes required.
  • Developing a positive image for the service in all its dealings with young people, Local Authorities and all other agencies.
  • Liaising and developing good working relations with Local Authority employees and any other person who may legitimately inspect operations within the service. Cooperating fully with purchasers when dealing with service provision. Offer practical assistancewhen required.
  • Liaising with other managers as required to ensure cooperation in the provision of our services across all sites.
  • Attending management meetings with company Directors and other Managers as required.
  • To actively promote the Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • Be aware of and exercise responsibilities in regard to safeguarding and protecting all young people placed in our services and to ensure that members of your team do the same.
  • Ensuring that the employees are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety Act 1974, to carry out agreed safety procedures in maintaining a safe environment for all people involved in the company.
  • Undertaking other such other duties which are within the competency of the post holder which they may be asked to perform from time to time.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Management experience within semiindependent or children's social care.
  • Knowledge of the needs of young people in the "lookedafter" system and experience in meeting these needs.
  • Experience of conducting professional supervision and managing a team.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Clear DBS (Enhanced) preferably registered on Update Service (funded by if required)
  • Satisfactory employment references, and satisfactory employment history.
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Able to use initiative
  • Able to multitask and prioritise
  • A passion for working with vulnerable children & young people

Desirable skills/experience:

  • Experience in Ofsted regulated services.
  • Additional relevant qualifications.
  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Children and Young People or equivalent.

  • Salary_:_£32,000 £35,000, dependent upon experience and size of services responsible for.
