Due to on-going success my client has created a brand-new Senior Project Accountant role to help support projects and drive collaboration within the Group.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing the P&L, balance sheet, order book and cashflow for each assigned project.
- Support project management with the control/forecasting by reporting on the project actual & forecast spend
- Act as a guidance to 2 Project Accountants to support their development and also assign tasks
- Manage the financial elements of a successful bid including creation of the baseline budget, project reports and full set up in the SAP system
- Analyse new project forecasts to assess risks & opportunities.
- Completing tender templates to determine budget costs and ensure all change is incorporated in the cost & value
- Act as a business partner, breaking down financial data to project & operational stakeholders such as the commercial team.
- Ensure all project reports and forecasts are submitted to Central Finance on time ensuring the information is accurate
- Calculate and review project accruals in relation to internal and agency staff, materials, and major subcontractors
- Manage or support the setup, submission and processing of Payment Applications, certificates, and invoices, including all postings to the ledger
- Actively monitor the payment cycle ensuring any required actions are taken to improve the cash position
- Provide supporting information to enable to issue, approval & payment of all actual costs
What you need
- Part or fully Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA)
- Ambition to continuously develop, with the aim to grow into other senior/management roles in coming years
- Previous project accountancy experience
- Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, formulas, and macros)
- Excellent communicator with the ability to challenge decision and influence others
- Desire and ability to work closely and develop productive relationships with both Finance staff other project functions
- The ability to analyse and use data to make valuable contributions to a process or activity
- Someone who is technically savvy and strives to automate/streamline processes (knowledge or Tableau or Power BI would be desired but not essential)
- Recent management/ partnering experience is preferred but not essential
- SAP knowledge or basic understanding of SAP would be an advantage
