37 flexible working hours in accordance with the needs of the service. To participate in overtime working to meet the needs of the service as and when required.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB
To be responsible for the supervision and direction of staff under their control, and support of the Single Team Principals.
To provide landscape construction / maintenance service including using craft skills and machinery / equipment skills to undertake a variety of hard and soft landscaping works.
The post is predominantly within Landscape Team but the post-holder may be required to undertake similar skill level activities within any or all Service areas in Environmental Management and across the Borough to meet the needs of the Service.
Responsible for all equipment / materials that the post holder will use in connection with the work of the team.

Responsibilities
Perform his / her duties in accordance with Rochdale Council's Equality and Diversity Policy.

- Defined service specification and management plans.
Principal Duties
Physical site preparation, which may include removal of rubbish / fly tipping, vegetation clearance, soil preparation, setting out (including levels) and design interpretation.
To carry out a variety of hard landscaping works which could include paving / path works, brick / stone works, steps in a variety of materials and including working out step levels, fencing, handrails installation of bins, benches, signs and other, drainage work including installation of surface water and drains and ancillary items such as silt traps and working out falls required for correct installation.
-Assembly of pre-fabricated construction items, including following accurate installation detail in line with manufacturer recommendations. Creation and assembly of bespoke construction items, requiring on-site problem solving skills and craft skills.

The maintenance of hard landscaping, which could include cleaning of drains, gullies and water courses, painting / varnishing, removing graffiti, repairs to benches, fencing, paving, brickwork etc.

To carry out a variety of soft landscaping installation works in line with landscape designs provided and to horticultural standards expected, which could include ground preparation, planting and staking trees, planting shrub and other plants, preparing ground for and either seeding or laying turf.
