Circa £60,000- £100,000


Our multi award-winning Newark based Client is looking for an
Operations Director (Construction) to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.


THE ROLE
The
Operations Director is responsible for full management of the company and the profitability of projects


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the execution the company's business strategies to achieve the planned growth.
  • Function as the public speaker and public relations representative of the company in ways that strengthen its profile.
  • Build relationships with local authorities and potential clients for joint ventures building the portfolio of partnership projects.
  • Provide strategic advice to the board, providing an accurate view of the market potential opportunities.
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans for new projects. Taking full responsibility for P&L.
  • Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of the team providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance.
  • Analyse problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth.
  • Understand and engage with the principles of running a company with a focus on the triple bottom line.
  • Operate as a leader operating as a board member developing and delivering the business growth strategy, looking to continually improve the business operations and processes in line with the Vision and Mission
  • Be actively involved in the project lifecycle through regular contact with senior staff and active sites, ensuring each project is going according to plan in terms of remit, budget and time.
  • Management of the Marketing Manager setting clear targets and project objectives to maximise the brand value and achieve business success through proactive marketing strategies.
  • Support the Construction SMT on a daytoday basis to ensure effective project delivery giving guidance on high level issues.
  • Setting of targets, objectives and KPIs, regularly monitoring outputs against these.
  • Conducting timely performance appraisals of direct reports, setting clear SMART objectives, promoting employee development, supporting direct report managers to manager their reports effectively at the expected standard.
  • Dealing with contract disputes and mitigating the impact of any issues.
  • Work collaboratively to support the design team with concept and detailed designs, moving projects forward in a timely manner.
  • Stay informed about green building technologies and practices, bring innovative ideas for projects forward with informed and justified proposals.
  • Ensuring compliance on Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety and legal requirements supporting the Operations Manager where required with accreditations, policy amendments and updates. Recommending policy and procedure improvements in line with changes to legislation.
  • Ensuring the Department runs in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures and that H&S compliance is achieved.

THE CANDIDATE

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field or extensive experience within the industry at a management level.
  • Proven record of managing delivery of residential projects.
  • Experience of relationship building and business development within the industry.
  • Effective financial planning, budgeting, and cost management.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Familiarity with legislation and management best practices.
  • Analytical thinker.
  • Open minded, adaptable and receptive to change.
  • Strong communicator, with a confidential approach.
  • Driven to achieve results.
