Trustees for Methodist Church Purposes (TMCP) is a charitable organisation based in the Northern Quarter of Manchester which provides legal and financial services, acting as Custodian Trustee for property and trusts held on behalf of the Methodist Church in England, Scotland and Wales.


We are looking to recruit a Support Officer on a fixed term contract (up to 12 months) to provide administrative support to our Legal team and to the wider organisation.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual for this role. You will be required to work with people at all levels throughout the organisation and wider Methodist Church. You will demonstrate enthusiasm and a commitment to delivering a high-quality support service. A background working in a legal environment and knowledge of the Methodist Church would be an advantage.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Assisting the Legal team with pre and post completion work on property transactions.
  • Providing assistance and support with telephone calls, proof reading, dealing with straightforward enquiries, drafting documents etc.
  • Operation and updating of our Matter Management System including data entry and electronic filing.
  • Setting up meetings and diary management for the Legal team.
  • Typing up routine correspondence and legal documents, preparing documents for execution by the Board of TMCP.
  • Aiding the Legal Manager with the oversight of the Panel of Solicitors, producing reports, agendas and minutes of meetings.
  • Project work for the Legal Manager including the digitisation of paper files.
  • Other administrative and office tasks including greeting visitors, preparing and clearing meeting rooms, arranging signatories for documents

Qualifications and skills required include:


  • 3 years proven experience in a Legal administration role
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft 36
  • Detailoriented with strong organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
Salary up to £28k p.a. depending on experience. Hours of work are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm). The role is office-based in Manchester but will also require the ability to work from home as needed.
