Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) provides expertise in the design and delivery of feasibility studies, evaluation trials, complex interventions and other well-designed clinical intervention studies.

Lancashire CTU is undertaking significant further investment in the development of Lancashire CTU and the recruitment of staff with relevant clinical and/or research expertise.

We are looking for enthusiastic professionals to join Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit which manages health related trials for UCLan, external organisations and international partners.


We wish to recruit a Senior Trials Assistant to join the Trials Management Team to help support the delivery of an increasing trials portfolio.

Senior Trials Assistants will assist Clinical Trials Managers and Principal Clinical Trials Manager in managing a portfolio of clinical studies and clinical trials undertaken by Lancashire CTU.

Contributing to the planning, coordination and completion of specified clinical trials, the post holder will support Trial Managers to maintain the smooth and effective running of clinical trials and research studies in accordance with the study protocols, ethical and regulatory approvals, Standard Operating Procedures, the principles of GCP, the applicable EU Directives, and UK legislation.

The post holder will contribute to successful delivery of timelines and project targets, development of trial promotional / administrative material and will be a point of contact for referral for trial-related queries and/or resolution of any technical/administrative barriers to participation.


Essential for this role is previous experience of project management in a healthcare setting, or previous experience of working in clinical academic research setting or a commercial clinical research facility.

The ability to work effectively under pressure in a demanding and challenging environment and the ability to make decisions, organise and prioritise workload is required, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines.


The post holder will have an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or professional health-related qualification or extensive work experience within a CTU and basic knowledge of the regulatory and governance requirements for clinical trials.

They will also have had formal training in Good Clinical practice or be able to show at interview an understanding of the principles.
