Purpose of the Post
We require a Fun Ride Safety Steward to assist with running our Horse Fun Rides through the 2024 season.

We have a range of team members and contractors that we currently use, we are seeking to add to our existing team to give us greater availibility of cover over the season.


Main Responsibilities
To assist with the delivery of Horse Fun Rides as follows:

  • Morning opening up/course safety checks and end of day closing up/course safety checks
  • Responding to incidents, assistance may include:
  • liaision with riders
- directing Medics to incident locations, organising additional support (e.g. ambulance/air ambulance)
- securing loose horses
- liaising with veterinary support
- repairing or closing jumps that are unsafe
- diverting route
- leading horses back to the parking field
- first response scene assessment, may include inital first aid/animal first aid assistance
- o General stewarding assistance, may include:

  • managing horsebox parking
- managing non-loaders, we do not permit assistance from our stewards for safety reasons, but you would need to monitor situations and offer intervention if a safety risk to the owners/other guests arises.
- managing additional support resources, for example - calling in help from other teams on site as required (we have additional maintenance, first aid, livestock and management support on site at Cotswold Farm Park)
- covering breaks for course secretary (signing riders in/out and safety briefings)


Skills and Experience Required:


  • Stewarding or similar roles at horse cross country events
  • Confident around horses, able to untack, lead and handle confidently, understands horse behaviour.
  • First aid certificate (ideally minimum 2 day/outdoor first aid trained) we have medics on site, sometimes you will be first to scene and sometimes the medics may ask for assistance.
  • Customer service skills, the events are non competetive and largely without incident, however in the event of an incident you will need to be able to deal with the impact of the emergency situation on your team and those around you
  • ATV sitin experience (ideally ticketed but training can be provided)
  • Able to read a map (on site training and induction will be included)
  • Management you will be responsible for the overall running of the day, including opening and closing. Procedures are in place for all of the above and will be provided, however you must be confident in your ability to make decisions under pressure and provide guidance and direction to others.
  • We would consider applicants who wish to bring their own ATV or UTV and who will bill us on a selfemployed basis. The hourly rate stated is variable dependent on self employed/employed and whether you have the desired ticketing/certificates stated above.

However it is not an exhaustive list and other duties may be required in accordance with the needs of the event.


Dates and Hours
Standard hours would be starting at 7-7.30am to complete the course opening.

Generally 5-6pm is the finish time however if there is an incident underway, you would be expected to stay on site until this is resolved and all horses have left.
