The Role:

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • School Type: Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Birkenhead
  • Start Date: September

What You'll Do:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to students with special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment, ensuring students feel valued and empowered.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and other professionals to implement personalised learning strategies and accommodations.
  • Assist with academic tasks, ensuring students are engaged and making progress in their learning.
  • Support students' social and emotional development, promoting positive relationships and selfesteem.
  • Provide feedback to the class teacher and contribute to the development of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of students' progress and achievements.

Requirements:


  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a special educational needs (SEN) setting is highly desirable.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Knowledge of different SEN conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and learning difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.

To be considered for this position you will:

  • have previous school experience and be familiar with the SIMS system
