  • Gama Aviation is currently recruiting for a Tools Assistant to join our dynamic Stores team at our modern Bournemouth base facility. Reporting directly to the Tools Supervisor, the Tools Assistant shall be responsible the daytoday control and allocation of tooling and Ground Support Equipment to the engineering teams across the Bournemouth facility using the Companies MRO software and wider facilities as needed. In addition, the Tools Assistant will aid the Tools Supervisor with the calibration, maintenance, and repair of all life'd tools in accordance regulatory requirements. The assistant will control all part deliveries to engineering through the hatch ensuring compliance and record keeping and will organise the control of commercial stocks for the MRO use.

Responsibilities:


Tools Room

  • Take responsibility for the control of all tooling iaw CAA regulations to engineering.
  • Effective selfmanagement, performance, and ownership of the tool store.
  • Ensure accurate and accountable records of all tools used by engineering.
  • Ensure accurate records of all tools transferred between departments and facilities are maintained.
  • Maintain the effective repair and calibration of tooling in circulation.
  • Ensure the robust inspection of all tooling before and after use to ensure all damage is detected.
  • Ensure compliance is maintained at all times including:
  • Tools are signed out correctly to person, WO and Squawk
  • Tools are always returned post use.
  • Tools are always clean and ready for use.
  • Tools are always calibrated.
  • Ensure a picture library and barcoding is maintained with all owned tooling.
  • Ensure all loan tooling is received into the loan tool grid and recorded to the P145 on use.
  • Forward planning and coordination with engineering is conducted.
  • Hands on approach to counter service, tool control.

Communication

  • Mature sustainable relationships with engineering regarding tooling.
  • Ensure timely updates to the MRO of all calibrated tooling and their respective schedules

Compliance

  • Ensure tools are removed from use when calibration expires.
  • Audit Tooling iaw with policy and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure accuracy of all calibration orders inclusive of cost, purchasing method and linked requisitions.

Consumable Stock

  • Ensure tools are removed from use when calibration expires.

Externally

  • Communicating regularly with the external Base & Line Managers to ensure tool control is maintained
  • Review tool transfer and calibration records for nonsupported external facilities including.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:


  • A keen interest in building a career in Tooling within an Aviation environment
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills with GCSE equivalents in Maths and English
  • Computer literate and have the ability to grasp new process and procedures
  • Ability to follow instructions efficiently and accurately
  • Willingness to complete or already have an in date Dangerous Goods qualification
  • Driving licence is a necessity and a willingness to use or already have forklift licence
  • Flexibility in supporting the business
