Commercial Underwriter - About the role


My client write wholesale SME Commercial Combined & Persona Lines insurance, and are looking to add an Underwriter to their growing team.


Commercial Underwriter - Key duties
Provide efficient support to brokers for new business, renewal, mid-term adjustment and general enquiries.


To achieve income and profit objectives by analysing insurance proposals, determine policy terms and calculate premiums in line with authority levels.

Underwriting of new business & renewal risks under a variety of delegated binding authorities.

Experience in E Trade models and traditional manual underwriting from guides.

Conducting MTA's, Cancellations, and general referral queries

Trading underwriting skills with a pragmatic approach.

Underwriting complex or specialist cases in the commercial combined / contractors combined product

Act as a central point of referral and share your expertise to assist in the development of colleagues.

Contribute to new products & schemes with the technical skill set to launch to market

Liaise directly with insurers on technical referrals


Senior Commercial Underwriter - Key requirements
Progress towards DIP. CII

Strong underwriting knowledge

Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements as well as technical proficiency on wordings

A high level of numeracy, analytical and literacy skills

A friendly professional demeanour and ability to excel in a team oriented environment

Natural at giving direction to and mentoring less experienced colleagues
