Specialist CAMHS Intensive Community Crisis Practitioner


This is an exciting opportunity for 5 passionate Specialist CAMHS ICCS Practitioner to join the new CAMHS Intensive Community Crisis Service developing across East London.

We are seeking practitioners to join our service who are passionate about providing high-quality mental care with children, young people and their families at times of crisis.

The postholders will deliver high quality assessment and treatment interventions to young people as part of the ICCS offer. Each postholder will hold a caseload of children, young people and their families. The postholder will work around individual needs, arranging appointments at home, in community locations or hospital.

They will work collaboratively with other professionals involved in supporting a young person, providing specialist advise, consultation and training to improve biopsychosocial care as needed.

The East London CAMHS Intensive Community Crisis Service is a team developing across East London that, when fully established will operated Monday-Sunday 09:00-17:00 and aim to provide the following for CYP based in City & Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets:

  • Multi-disciplinary support including assessment, diagnosis and treatment to CYP with serious mental illness where inpatient admission would otherwise be required or as part of supported discharge
  • Interventions and support provided by ICCS may be up for up to 8 weeks and include individual work, family work, psychiatric assessment, medication management, psychoeducation, work on activities of daily living, multiagency liaison, collaborative care planning, facilitated integration into community resources as close to home as possible
  • Empower children and young people to recover from mental health crisis


The postholder will be expected to line manage Support Workers, in line with People & Culture policies and facilitate student placements as needed.

The postholder will work primarily work across a Monday-Sunday, 09:00-17:00 shift pattern. There may be occasional evening work during the week, depending on service needs. The postholder will work flexibly across the three boroughs depending on the needs of the service.
