Job responsibilities:
Dispensing Dispensing acute prescriptions. Dispensing repeat prescription requests received by telephone, online, or in writing Updating patients repeat screens on doctors instructions. Dispensing black listed prescriptions, pricing and recording them. Checking colleagues dispensing.

Nomad packaging and checking nomad packs. Ensuring the dispensary area remains clean and tidy at all times.

Dispensing controlled drug prescriptions in line with regulations, practice procedures and with special care Following all dispensary standard operating procedures Prescriptions Ensuring that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor.

Handing out prescriptions and collecting charges as appropriate.

Taking prescription requests online, over the telephone and at the patients hatch. Collecting private charges for black listed medications, vaccines and holiday prophylactic medication.

Ensuring that all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are appropriately stored and banked and a record kept of all financial transactions Sorting, stamping and endorsing prescriptions.

Completing backs of prescriptions.

Generating prescriptions. Maintaining full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions incorporating the use of computers when appropriate.

Liaise with Pharmacist Manager and Leven Pharmacy Staff as appropriate and to ensure the smooth and efficient running of both dispensary and pharmacy Repeat prescription line Stock Control Operating efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the practice with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage through out of date stock Ordering appropriate quantities of goods via the wholesalers computer link.

Checking goods as and when they are delivered and recording generic details.

Returning incorrect goods to the wholesalers. Stocking shelves, refrigerators and other storage areas using rotation method. Removing out of date stock from the shelves, refrigerators and other storage areas.

Ensuring that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and maintaining a temperature control record/logbook Disposal of returned unused medicines.

Maximising dispensary profit Other Answering telephones Assist with training of trainee dispensers. Cover on reception desk if the need arises Holiday and sickness leave cover as required.

Liaise with Reception Desk staff to ensure smooth and efficient running of both dispensary and reception Make refreshments for doctors and staff as required This job description is neither exhaustive nor exclusive and will be reviewed periodically in conjunction with the post holder.

The post-holder will implement and lead on a full range of promotion and management their own and others health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice Health & Safety policy, the practice Health & Safety manual, and the practice Infection Control policy and published procedures.
