We are seeking a Human Resources Officer (Maternity Cover) to join our busy and friendly HR team in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS).

The post-holder will have a regular on-site presence in our Headington offices, with the opportunity to work remotely up to two days per week.


Working closely with the rest of the NDORMS HR Team, you will be responsible for the operational aspects of human resources administration in the department.

You will work with a variety of staff groups and line managers to provide an effective HR service, with a particular focus on staff based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic, and Botnar Research, Centres.

This is a varied and interesting role which will require you to engage with various HR procedures, including recruitment, induction, obtaining visas and visa extensions and the University's end-of-fixed-term-contract processes.

In addition, you will advise staff and line managers on straightforward HR questions, researching and interpreting employment law and University procedures to answer more complex queries, as required.


You will be educated to A level standard with GCSE (grade A-C) level English and Maths, or equivalent, and have experience of working in an HR team/ role, with the ability to work well independently and with others.

An excellent communicator, you will be able to explain HR processes and procedures clearly and accurately and provide a high level of customer service at all times.


This post is available until 30 June 2024, or the actual return of the substantive post-holder, or the resignation of the substantive post-holder and employment of a new post-holder, whichever is the earliest.
