We are on the hunt for a creative, self-starting and collaborative junior motion and graphic designer to join our growing team and support our mission to help academics and the public sector tell visual stories for a better world.

The purpose of this role will be to:

• support our team with storyboarding design, animation and graphic design projects

- work closely with our lead animator and designers to deliver projects of the highest quality and to deadlines
- spearhead our social media and marketing game

You'll be working with clients from the UN and international parliaments to universities and governments across the world. No day will be the same - you could be assisting projects from animations explaining the latest developments in climate change research, to brand illustration for research projects on gendered environments in sport


Junior Motion and Graphic Designer

Starting at £23,500 pro rata.

Full time

Annual bonus of up to 5% based on performance

Hybrid role, with one day a week at our office in Barnsley, South Yorkshire

The Role:

• Assisting our lead animator Emmett to create storyboards, assets and animations
• Supporting our design foxes Chris and Sim with illustration, research branding and report design projects
• Responsible for the creative assets (bringing your ideas and design flair) across our social media channels, including Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, newsletters and lead generation pages of our website
• Hybrid working in our office alongside the team one day a week here in Barnsley; and travel to client meetings, conferences and events across the UK and beyond where appropriate(expenses paid of course)

Requirements:

• Strong ability to design, storyboard and animate in a range of styles from slick motion graphics to emotive character pieces
• Graphic design capabilities across branding, publications, infographics, social media and websites
• Demonstratable illustration skills and experience using Procreate
• Proficient in the Adobe Creative suite, including Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
• A hunger to learn and grow your skills both independently and with the team
• A collaborative, warm and cando member of the team with incredible interpersonal and communication skills to work closely with our clients
• A multitasking extraordinaire with exceptional organisation skills and the ability to efficiently prioritise competing demands

Desirable:

• An understanding of the research and academic world
• Experience in successfully running social media channels
• Experience in branding and graphic design products like reports, infographics and web mockups
