The post holder will be required work with key colleagues and safety groups in the Integrated Care Board and national Better Tomorrow Programme [LFD] in support of both a local organisational and system wide response to PSIRF.

The role requires an experienced and competent professional with a broad understanding of health organisations, patient safety and quality improvement methodologies.

The individual will be able to negotiate, work collaboratively and influence across a range of different levels within the organisation, linking to executive functions, working directly with members of the Trust Executive Team, Care Group Senior Management Teams and clinicians ensuring that patients needs, and views are central as we transition to PSIRF and associated LFD methodologies.

The post requires the ability to receive and provide highly complex, sensitive and sometimes contentious information to executive / senior groups, including presentations to large groups.


The post holder will have sound knowledge of relevant drivers for PSIRF, safety science and quality improvement, together with a strong understanding of national safety policy/strategy issues and their effects on the organisation; using this to underpin challenge and change.

To demonstrate an understanding of clinical issues and their effects on the organisation; using this to underpin strategies to manage change in implementing new approaches to investigation, improvement and learning.

The post holder will manage individuals with specialist knowledge, managing personnel and associated budgets.
