The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) aims to deliver faster, longer, more frequent, and more reliable services across the north of England, from Newcastle, Hull and York towards Manchester and Liverpool via Leeds.


The aim of the TRU East Alliance is to transform the East of Leeds route allowing people to travel faster, more reliably and in greater comfort between the North's great cities.

Providing passengers with more choice, more seats, and better facilities on a safer, cleaner, more environmentally friendly railway.


What will you be doing

  • Works as part of a dedicated materials procurement team for the regional operating unit to develop the regional supply chain to suit the demand.
  • Provide market competitive procurement solutions for the operating unit which demonstrate best overall value for money.
  • Provide an effective and professional service in the procurement of materials covering:
  • Work winning supply chain selection for Bid Leader
  • Supporting the production and driving of the procurement schedule
  • Supporting the development of work package documents in conjunction with project teams
  • Work package procurement
  • Production of purchase orders.
  • Expediting activities as required
  • Support the regional supply chain management activities, including structuring the supply chain, carrying out performance and relationship management to drive improved performance/cost benefits.
  • Support activities that generate and encourage an efficient, productive and continuously improving supply chain performance.
  • Support the group procurement functional goals and objectives within the region
  • Ensure supplier evaluation forms and risk assessments are maintained
  • Support the development of an accredited and structured supply chain that is aligned to the regional demands and overall Murphy strategy
  • Input to the monitoring of the market place to ensure awareness of pricing trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Continuously seek out and assess new supply chain members to meet regional project demand.
  • Support the monitoring of the supply chain performance, workload and financial status to protect the corporate position.
  • Support the development of the supply chain, products and innovations that bring cost and/or buildability benefits.
  • Providing a comprehensive procurement service for all projects in the region.
  • Deliver a consistent procurement approach across all projects within the region from work winning / preconstruction stage.
  • Demonstrate best overall value for money in the procurement recommendations
  • Ensure a robust negotiation process is applied in the engagement process.
  • Ensure contract arrangements and package details are comprehensive and protect the business in its dealings with suppliers.

Who we are looking for

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of work practices, processes and procedures within the construction process from preconstruction stage and into construction stage.
  • Good existing business network and relationships with the supply chain.
  • Good product and supplier knowledge relevant to the regional operating unit.
  • Good working knowledge of contracts
  • Good knowledge of Safety within procurement practices
  • Good relevant job experience demonstrating development.
  • Good understanding of strategic procurement practices
  • Good knowledge of sustainability within procurement practices
