About the role


As an Apprentice you will be completing a work-based learning programme, working towards a NVQ Level 2 or 3 in early childhood studies or equivalent.

You will be trained to work as a member of the nursery team to ensure that all children attending the setting receive high quality care, are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences which meet their needs.


Working, with both the training provider and our nursery leaders you will be supported to develop the knowledge and skills required to complete the qualification assessment, through a range of tailored training days, coaching and mentoring and a personalised training plan.


Under the guidance of the Room Lead, you will be a Keyworker (to a small group of children), liaising closely with parents/carers to ensure needs are met and progress is made.


You will assist with the planning of the curriculum and delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage; providing safe, creative and inclusive opportunities for children to learn and progress; organising equipment, setting up and facilitating activities.

You will make observations of children's learning and development and provide learning opportunities support children to work towards their next stage in their learning.

You will be supported by the team of to plan for the individual children in your care. Using our shared understanding of how children learn to form provocations that build on children's interests.

About you


You must be willing to work towards achieving a level 2/3 NVQ in Early Years Care and Education apprentice scheme at College and hold 3 GCSE's (Grade C or above) including English and Maths.


You will be expected that, as an Apprentice Nursery Assistant, you will develop good relationships with the children and their parents, and that you will actively be alongside the children observing and recording, talking, listening, initiating interaction, playing and providing learning opportunities.

You will also, as all staff are expected to, support families directly as well as signposting them to appropriate support services
