Teaching Assistant - SLD / PMLD (Secondary)

Kettering/Corby - Northamptonshire

Full-time, Permanent

Ages 11-19 with complex needs


We are looking for a talented Special Educational Needs teaching assistants to support in our local schools in Kettering/Corby Simply Education has a fantastic opportunity for you in Northamptonshire (Kettering/Corby) We are seeking motivated and experienced teaching assistants to join our team, starting immediately on either a rolling contract or temporary to permanent role.


The successful Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant will guide children and young people with special educational needs, reach their full potential.

If you have prior experience in special educational needs or mainstream secondary or primary teaching and are after an exciting new role, we would love to hear from you

As a successful teaching assistant, you must possess strong teamwork skills and excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.

You should also have effective skills in planning, preparation, recording, and reviewing students' progress, as well as the ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.


Key Responsibilities:


Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum and having a regard to the educational, physical, and social needs of the students within a learning environment.

Work collaboratively with other members of staff.

Help and contribute (where needed) to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.

Work with the class teacher to provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge.

Previously worked within Education settings (Nurseries, primary education, secondary education and specialist provisions)

Patience and Understanding

Flexibility and Adaptable to an everchanging environment

Good Communication Skills

Empathy and Compassion to student's needs.

Creative and able to make lessons fun and engaging.

Organization and Planning Skills

Strong Classroom Management

Strong behaviour management expectations

Ability to build positive relationships

Knowledge of different learning styles

Passion for teaching and helping students with special educational needs.
