My client in Barnet are currently looking for a Level 3 qualified Senior Nursery Nurse, with leadership experience and a minimum of 12 months as a room leader or a similar role, for the Nursery thirds in Charge opportunity they currently have.


This third in charge role is room based, in the Toddler Room,, so you will be working closely with the management team on the day to day aspects of the setting and responsible for your room requirements.

As the Third in charge you will be involved with training new staff and overseeing the setting. You may also be responsible for opening and closing the setting if needed.

This is a full time role, working 40 hours a week and all year round, apart from Bank Holidays & 1 week at Christmas

This nursery has 4 rooms and a capacity of over 45+ children.


Senior Nursery Nurse Duties:


  • Over viewing planning sheets and record keeping of all the staff in your room
  • Ensuring routines are being followed and run smoothly
  • Ensuring new decisions are taken on board and maintained in the room at all times
  • Ensuring all staff in the room has all information
  • Ensuring that all relevant handover happen between rooms and pegs are completed before children start.
  • Ensuring that all policies and procedures are being followed by all staff
  • Keeping minutes of room meetings
  • Being an excellent role model to the other staff in your room

Senior Nursery Nurse Role Requirements:


  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in childcare education
  • Experience of providing play and learning opportunities for children.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to be organised and efficient
  • The ability to support trainees through mentoring and coaching
  • Acting as Keyworker and to observe
  • A working knowledge of the Children's Act.
  • Experience working with toddlers or pre school
  • Good communication skills both with children and parents
  • Ability to form good interactions with children and use own initiative
  • Knowledge of Ofsted requirements and the EYFS.
