We have a fantastic opportunity for two Lecturers in Public Services to join our Professional & Leisure Services Department.


Professional & Leisure Services is an inclusive department and strives to support all students to achieve their goals through practical and realistic experiences.

The student experience is at the forefront of everything we do, and exciting plans are in place to develop a cadet programme to further develop essential uniformed service skills.


Responsibilities include:


  • To provide high quality teaching, learning, assessment and internal moderation across a range of Public Services courses at Level 2 and 3, and up to and including Higher Education.
  • To provide excellent learning, teaching and assessment across agreed provision specified by the Head of Department/Curriculum Area Manager
  • To plan and be professionally prepared to support inspirational classroom practice with innovative approaches to improving the learning experience
  • To assess the work and progress of all students and provide them with constructive and timely feedback to allow them to progress. To report accurately on the progress of both individuals and groups.
  • Contribute to the delivery, tracking and monitoring of key skill performance amongst cohorts of students in Public Services.
  • To course lead a programme or programmes of study in Public Services ensuring high levels of achievement and success.
  • To seek ways of improving student performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback
  • To participate in the maintenance and promotion of close links with employers
  • Engage in professional development in relation to teaching, learning and assessment, including the use of an evidenceinformed approach
  • To contribute to the development of new programmes of study demonstrating an inclusive and collaborative approach to delivery
  • Contribute to outreach and/or widening participation activity within the department
  • Maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students' learning carried out to report accurately on the progress of both individuals and groups.
  • Proactively contribute to the success and vision of the department
  • To undertake programme leadership duties as specified by your line manager or the Head of Department
  • To ensure that the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students is successfully completed and in a timely manner and in line with college policies
  • Devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the curriculum
  • To meet the internal student progression targets from level to level and FE-HE
  • To be responsible for student discipline, counselling and guidance related to all assigned classes/programmes
  • To ensure the student voice informs curriculum design

Education & Training

  • A recognised teaching qualification or willingness towards a teaching qualification in an agreed time frame
  • Level 2 or above in English and maths
  • Assessor's qualification is desirable but not essential

Experience

  • Experience of the effective design and delivery of highquality inclusive teaching and learning activities
  • Experience of improving the learning, teaching, assessment and feedback methods within an FE or organisational environment
  • Experience of student pastoral care
  • Experience of external verification processes is desirable but not essential
