At Puddle Jumpers Nursery we aim to deliver a high-quality nursery experience where children thrive because they are at the heart of everything we do.

We aspire to provide each child with opportunities to develop their individual interests and characteristics, make exceptional progress from the start of their learning journey to when they leave us and ensure they are supported to be inquisitive and confident.

We continue to grow our staff team and currently have vacancies for an Early Year's Apprentice. The Early Years Apprentice works with other early years professionals to plan activities to encourage play and sensory stimulation.

Your apprenticeship will include a formal training programme with our training provider Swift Childcare. You will also receive regular on-the-job training from your manager and colleagues to help you develop in the role.

You will spend at least 12 months in a supporting role until you have completed the first level of your apprenticeship.

It is important that you work hard on the formal training as well as the on-the-job aspects. Your manager, colleagues and training mentor will support you with this.

When you have completed your apprenticeship, you should have the following knowledge, skills, and behaviours:
Knowledge - You will have a good understanding of:

  • The relevant policies and legislation and know how they apply.

Skills and experience - You will:

  • Understand children's early years education and development
  • Be able to implement the Early Years curriculum
  • Understand diversity, equality, and inclusion in Early Years Settings
  • Plan and provide effective teaching and learning in Early Years Settings
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessment tools in Early Years Settings
  • Develop effective and informed professional practice in Early Years Settings
  • Promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of children in Early Years Setting
  • Child Protection and Safeguarding
  • Partnership working in Early Years
  • Understand how to promote play and learning in the Early Years
  • Support children's outdoor play
  • Understand how to work with families and support them to engage in their child's learning
  • Support in the running of an Early Years' service
  • Understand the needs of children who are vulnerable and experiencing poverty and disadvantage

Salary:
Up to £13,000.00 per year
