About the Opportunity:
We have a fantastic opportunity to take your place in Group Corporate Affairs as a Senior Communications Business Partner for both Business & Commercial Banking (BCB) and Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB)

This role brings together the communications across all of our Commercial waterfront.

That includes the BCB and CIB business units and associated Platforms, and also working with communications professionals in all parts of the company that focus on our business customers including Transport, LDC, Housing Growth Partnership, Citra and Workplace Pensions, to ensure we have a joined-up story internally and externally.


You'll partner with the People and Places team and other Senior Managers within our team to ensure that we deliver the Culture and People plans in a way that is coordinated across the two business units and reflects the ambitions of the company overall.

You'll also be responsible for leading the internal and external communications strategy for important topics that are not bounded by business unit boundaries such as Sustainability or Inclusivity which also have an external dimension and are of very high importance for our Commercial businesses.


What you'll be doing:

  • Play a leading role in creating and supporting the communications campaigns for BCB / CIB that supports colleague engagement and cultural change objectives.
  • Work in partnership with internal teams, often leading matrix teams or squads, to coordinate the endtoend delivery of creative and engaging campaigns.
  • Lead relationships with inbusiness communicators, developing their skills and capabilities and collaborating to improve impact and minimise volume of communications for our audiences.
  • Explore innovative and creative ways to share the stories internally and externally that demonstrate the vital role BCB and CIB is playing in the transformation of our company.
  • Work alongside our external communications specialists (within the BP team, but also media, social and public affairs) on key campaigns and drumbeat activity.

What we'll need from you:

  • Strong experience in a previous corporate communications role is essential
  • First class writing and editorial skills, with a real eye for detail.
  • Be cool, calm and collected under pressure, with the ability to make decisions quickly and work across multiple, fast paced projects.
  • A creative outlook and ability to solve problems whilst balancing reputational risk.
  • An indepth understanding of what great looks like when it comes to communications coupled with the ability to understand our internal audiences, developing timely, relevant and impactful content across a range of channels.
  • A passion to embrace and motivate change, continuous improvement as well as a willingness to be bold and bring ideas and experiment at pace
  • Knowledge and experience of SME and business banking would be useful.
