My client is looking for an Area Sales Manager for the North East area of England.
You will have previous experience (within construction industry) in a similar role and be able to demonstrate key achievements.

They are looking for a real hands on, driven and ambitious sales person that is confident in delivering the best service possible from start to finish.

Ideally you will come from a construction scaffolding background and you will be selling my clients complete product range and services in order to achieve the company's revenue and profit objectives whilst providing a first class service to their customers.


As an Area Sales Manager you will:

  • Achieve a broad and deep understanding of the market for the companies products in the far North East/West Area and establish cordial and productive relationships with major customers and prospects.
  • Increase or reopen trading with current, dormant and other known customers in the far North East/West Area
  • Prioritise major cities and towns in the far North East/West Area and open new sales accounts with prospects in these locations.
  • Make regular personal calls on customers and prospects conscientiously across the area and in all potential business sections.
  • Prospect for new business and expand the customer database, whilst servicing existing clients
Responsibilities as an Area Sales Manager

  • Work to agreed sales guidelines, key performance and productivity plans, always aiming to meet or exceed targets.
  • Understand the company's objectives, procedures and systems.
  • Learn about and understand the company's products and services in order to give expert advice to customers and prospects.
  • Site support work of your clients.
  • Understand specific sales campaigns their background, objectives, calling and procedural requirements.
  • Be prepared to answer, or know where to obtain answers to, all prospect and customer questions.
  • Seek assistance and guidance from colleagues where necessary to supplement your knowledge or experience.
  • Present a professional, helpful and enthusiastic image of the company at all times.
  • Respond promptly and completely to all customer and prospect enquiries, complaints or requests.
  • Exploit the full potential of all sales calls, maximising opportunities for sales revenue generation.
  • Make effective use of sales aids, guides and professional sales techniques.
  • Take ownership and follow through enquiries or service calls rigorously.
  • Prepare for, attend, participate in and contribute to sales meetings, briefings and training sessions.
  • Support colleagues to meet the overall objectives of the company, providing cover when needed.
  • Actively participate in special projects (e.g. exhibitions, demonstrations) as required.
  • Take responsibility for the care of all company property provided in the cause of your employment.
  • Be prepared to carry out such other duties and additional working hours as may be required to fulfil the objectives of the role.
  • Followup all sales leads promptly.
  • Follow through all sales orders into Letchworth, through to final delivery. Ensure you are fully informed about the progress of your orders and the delivery date is communicated to your customer. This also includes assistance in getting difficult customersto pay, as requested by the credit control department, from time to time

  • Complete daily/weekly sales records (system and manual) to ensure that customer and prospect information is up to date and accurate and that reporting processes are being followed.
  • Input data to company systems as required in relation to sales activities.
  • Credit control procedures must be adhered to.
