£28,996 to £32,624 _(pro rata per annum)_

We are seeking a Payroll Officer to join our team at our Ellesmere Port Campus.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Accurate processing of the monthly College staff payroll in line with the timetable provided by the payroll provider;
  • Liaise with the HR dept regarding starters, leavers and staff changes, advising the payroll provider of these changes in a timely manner;
  • Work with the payroll provider to ensure that the pension schemes are administered in accordance with the relevant scheme specifications;
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely submission of the monthly pension reports relating to TPS and LGPS;
  • Ensure the accuracy of all additional payroll payments made to employees, eg Overtime, Sick pay, Maternity Pay, SSP, SMP and SPP;
  • Ensure the accuracy of all payroll deductions made by employees eg AVC's, CTAEO, and they are paid over to the appropriate organisations on a timely basis; _and_
  • Promote the welfare of children and young people.

Key Person Specification Requirements:


  • GCSE Grade C _(4/5)_ in Maths and English or equivalent_(or willingness to work towards)_;
  • Significant experience (>2 yrs) of processing a large payroll scheme_;_
  • Experience (>2yrs) in the use of payroll software_;_
  • Experience of using excel spreadsheets, with the ability to create formulae and produce reports;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail_;_
  • Excellent ICT/administration skills_; and_
  • Enhanced DBS check.
