This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in developing into project management to join our Black Country wide team.

The Black Country Pathology Service provides diagnostic services across the whole region.

You will be providing support to our project managers who are working on a range of IT and operational projects.


You will be getting involved in all aspects of project management - project meetings, administration, project governance, business process mapping and testing which will mean you will have a varied day and work with many different teams.


You will be working with internal and external organisations to implement new technologies and enable pathology to become a truly integrated service across the board.

Essentially you will be someone who has an interest in science and IT.


You will be:

- providing hands on support and coordination of the project workstreams as directed by the Programme and Project Managers
- working across the whole Black Country region and beyond which means some travelling may be required between sites
- working in a variety of environments from the laboratory to clinical settings
- promoting the Black Country Pathology Service and new technologies to improve the diagnostic pathway
- participating in Testing and Training of new systems and processes

  • Support the change process and undertake low level of business analysis including drawing of flow charts.
  • Support and document testing of new systems and document training progress.
  • Day to day administrative support for the BCPS project team
  • Manage a wide range of functions across the support team function; Arranging venues for events as necessary, and provide supporting information material as required, meeting and greeting of visitors, facilitating room layout etc.
  • Management of information within the project including maintenance of the project documents and associated procedures, appropriate file structures, version control, indexing, access control and storage
  • Produce and delivery communications reporting regards the project delivery for both internal BCPS use and communications to other areas across the Black Country.
  • Support Project Managers to undertake submission of requests, financial tracking of Purchase Orders and provide updates to Programme Manager
  • Support project leads in the development of their plans and act as a central point for enquiries for the BCPS project team.
  • Support the development of governance documentation for Project
  • Prepare documentation for Project meetings and events including advertising and coordination of attendee availability
  • Provide note taking support to meetings with production of notes and action logs
  • Any other tasks or duties commensurate with the position as agreed with the Pathology Programme Manager.
