Description

Opportunity for a project engineer to join a well-established market leader who has been trading for over 100 years. Working Days, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4.30 pm, with a 1.30 pm finish on Friday Initially, you will be site based 5 days per week.
This can move to a hybrid pattern with 3 days onsite and 2 days at home.


In return, the project engineer will receive a salary of up to £39,000 depending on experience, plus a pension matched up to 7.5%, 25 days of holiday, plus the bank holidays.


Working from a high-tech factory in Cardiff for a business known globally for innovation and product quality, focusing on a project delivering high-value components to a large defence contractor.

As the project engineer, you will support the director with all elements of project execution and will be the primary liaison with the customer


Responsibilities will include:

Project management

  • Tracking activities against the project plan, keeping the project plan up to date
  • Identifying risk areas and developing backup plans
  • Maintaining risk and opportunity register

Production

  • Liaising with production to ensure the production plan meets delivery requirement
  • Reviewing production plans with relevant people and ensuring the parts will be produced to specification in an efficient manner

Documentation

  • Producing and managing the production of conformant documentation
  • Ensure all internal documents and drawings are correct

Engineering

  • Liaising with engineering to ensure any engineering requirements are completed, i.e. shock analysis, Lloyds approval

Procurement

  • Liaising with purchasing to ensure orders for material and subcontractors are placed on time
  • Highlighting any pricing issues when the actual price does not meet project expectations
  • Monitoring the progress of orders to ensure materials arrive on time
  • Ensuring suppliers meet contractual requirements
There will also be involvement in areas such as NDT, quality, costing, logistics,

  • A background in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Project engineering experience gained in the manufacturing sector
  • Good Excel skills


The work hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 8 am pm, and 8 am pm on Fridays.
