Description
At Hackney Council, our vision is to make the borough a place for everyone.

We're proud to support a thriving community where everyone feels included and involved - and where our residents can lead healthy and successful lives.

As a Financial Advisor, you'll provide strategic financial guidance to our Directorate across a range of key projects. In doing so, you'll ensure we keep delivering for the people who call Hackney home.

This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark in driving forward key services and transformation projects across the local authority - specifically within Adults, Health and Integration, and Children's and Education services.

With your ability to interpret intricate financial and legislative information, you'll work alongside the Director and Heads of Finance to support the overall strategic finance function.

Whether you're implementing a range of appropriate financial processes, or translating our aims into practical and achievable plans, you'll ensure this area of the Council is high-performing and efficient.

With your technical, strategic mindset, you'll provide financial support for major capital and revenue projects.

From financial modelling and investment appraisals to costing aspects of business cases, you'll develop data to meet business needs and enhance the overall service in a way that promotes equality of opportunity.

Additionally, you'll support and implement new ways of working. You'll identify opportunities for service improvement as you recognise and promote the positive benefit of change across the authority.

You'll also have a track record of effective management and development of staff. With your guidance, you'll help create performance-oriented culture where all colleagues are aware of standards, expectations and timescales. Line management is optional, but if you're keen to lead, you could have up to three direct reports. Importantly, you'll establish clear lines of responsibility and build trust, morale and effective teamwork throughout the finance function. And of course, you'll have strong IT skills.

You'll be adept at communicating complex financial information clearly through written briefings and formal reports for colleagues at all levels.

You might currently be a Finance Manager, Financial Business Partner, Management Accountant, or similar - this is a fantastic opportunity for you to shape the role and deliver a consistent approach to transformation and savings development.

You'll also need a detailed understanding of the local government accounting and regulatory framework, and demonstrable project management experience.
