Description

Founded in 1899, Newton Derby have a long history of delivering generator solutions for technically demanding projects around the world. We are a division of Winder Power Group, a leading power and distribution transformer manufacturing company based in Yorkshire, Pudsey LS28. Newton Derby designs and manufactures excitation and generator solutions for numerous market sectors.
**Duties/Responsibilities:
- *
  • Setting up and operating various coil winding machines to produce coils to specifications detailed on production drawing;
  • Operating cutting machines and producing complete sets of winding insulation;
  • Setting up of coil formers;
  • Winding of different types of generator or motor coils. Including bending leads, Crossovers, etc.;
  • Making end connections by brazing and bending;
  • Ensuring area of work is kept clean and tidy at all times reducing contamination to products;
  • Ensure all quality control and customer specific documentation has been completed to specification;
  • Periodically, work to tight deadlines and show commitment to get the "job done";
  • Carry out any reasonable adhoc duties requested by your direct Line Manager or the Management Team;
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation at all times, both within individual depots and right across the entire Winder Power group;
  • Safeguard all Company assets;
  • Treat all other employees and all our customers professionally and with respect;
  • Always act in the best interests of any of the Winder Power, and not to carry out (or fail to carry out) any action that would bring the company into disrepute;
  • Always work in a responsible manner to ensure safe working practices;
  • All information is to be dealt with in line with General Data Protection Regulations 2018;
  • Follow Health Safety Quality and Environmental guidelines provided by the company currently ISO 9001:14001 and OHSAS 18001 procedures, including all future notifications;
  • Proactively contribute to the company's policy of continuous improvement.

Qualifications/Skills required for the role:


  • GCSEs High school or equivalent (Desirable);
  • Must have some knowledge in electric motors or generators.
  • Ability to read production drawings and connection diagrams, ensuring specifications are accurately reproduced during manufacture.
  • Winding experience would be beneficial however, full training will be provided.
