The Role


This is a great opportunity for an academic with expertise in Digital Media Design or related fields to join the Creative and Social Informatics research centre where you can add to the work of the experienced team exploring
Animation, Motion Graphics, 3D Modelling, Digital Video and Image Production and Games Design.


The Lecturer in Digital Media Design will contribute to and build programmes and modules to support the expansion of the School's teaching portfolio, meeting the demand for skilled graduates and postgraduates.

You will also actively contribute to our existing portfolio of information systems degrees.


In this role you will have the opportunity to develop your own research and to support the delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Digital Media, UX and Animation.

Students study a wide variety of fields such as 3D animation and modelling, digital video and image production, design for interactive media, motion graphics, user experience and interaction design.

We are looking for a Lecturer in Digital Media Design who is:


  • Excited about developing their research and esteem through externally funded projects and industry partnerships.
  • Passionate about studentcentred learning and developing industryready graduates.
  • Willing to develop their personal area of expertise to complement and augment our team.
  • A research allowance of at least 30% of your time to build your research which can be increased further through external funding.
  • Support for travel to conferences and to establish collaborations.
  • Extensive training and development opportunities through our Human Resources (HR) and Research, Innovation and Enterprise Office (RIE).
  • Opportunities to lead and join PhD student supervisory teams.
  • Opportunities to contribute to the leadership of the research group.


If you do not have membership of the Higher Education Academy's professional membership scheme, you will be expected to study towards a PGCert in Teaching and Learning supported by the Department of Learning and Teaching Enhancement (DLTE), or to gain membership through another route.


We are looking for someone who can demonstrate enthusiasm for working in a cross-disciplinary manner in applied research and in the development of teaching to enhance employability of our graduates.
