Job Summary:


We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Primary Teaching Assistant to join our team to work with a lovely primary school based in Alfreton.


As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide vital support to the classroom teacher in delivering quality education and care to primary school students.

This position requires a patient and flexible approach, a passion for working with children, and the ability to assist with various aspects of classroom management and student support.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities, providing support to individual students or small groups as directed.
  • Work collaboratively with the teacher to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes active engagement and respect among students.
  • Support students with their learning, including reinforcing concepts, explaining instructions, and providing guidance during independent work.
  • Assist with classroom organization and management, helping to set up resources, prepare materials, and maintain a tidy and stimulating learning environment.
  • Provide pastoral care and emotional support to students, fostering their social and emotional development.
  • Assist with the supervision of students during class activities, breaks, and outings, always ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
  • Help with the implementation of behaviour management strategies and maintain consistent expectations for student conduct.
  • Support students with special educational needs or specific learning difficulties, following guidance provided by the teacher or SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Collaborate with the teacher and other staff members to assess and record student progress, achievements, and areas for development.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues, providing regular feedback on student progress and wellbeing.

Requirements:


  • Relevant qualifications in Education or a related field are desirable but not essential. Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is highly valued.
  • Passion for working with primary schoolaged children and supporting their educational and emotional development.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to establish positive relationships with students and maintain a nurturing classroom environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work with different age groups, learning needs, and classroom environments.
  • Basic understanding of primary school curricula and teaching methodologies.
  • Organizational skills to assist with classroom management, resources, and activities.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Successful completion of background checks and any other necessary screening required by the recruitment agency and the school.

Salary:
£75.00-£85.00 per day
