Ambition is delighted to be working with an established Top 20 Accountancy Practice who are seeking an Accounts Senior to join the Firm.

The role will be hybrid between working from home and the office in Central London.


The Firm
They are a large Top 20 Firm operating out of their Central London office.

They are large enough to display deep knowledge over a range of specialisms but small enough to understand the importance of personal connections.

They see themselves as advisors,rather than accountants and are now partners to their long standing clients


The Role


This role sits within the Business Services team with approximately 50 people dedicated to providing the full complement of outsourced services that cover accounting, VAT and regulatory reporting.


Key aspects of the role inlcude:

  • Review management accounts, statutory accounts, and VAT returns for a wide range of profitmaking organisations and charities in compliance with the firm's and statutory procedures.
  • Take ownership of implementing accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero) for clients.
  • Deliver training sessions for junior members of the team throughout the year and provide the manager of the team with innovative adaptations to accounting methodologies to improve efficiencies.
  • Provide general accounting services and assistance to clients in the preparation of accounts and VAT returns, for example preparing working papers for management or statutory accounts.
  • Recommend improvements to clients' accounting systems and controls and assist clients whenever needed.
  • Keep Managers and Partners informed of the progress on the team's jobs.
  • Understand the specification of the assignment agreed with the client and report immediately to the Manager/Partner if this specification needs to be changed.
  • Be able to take ownership of an assignment and see it through to completion with the willingness to solve issues as and when they arise.
  • Keep costs within budget wherever possible and report to the Manager/Partner as soon as agreed time/budget appears to be compromised.
  • ACCA/ACA Qualified
  • Strong academics and experience working in practice
  • Client facing experience
  • Extensive expereince of reviewing year end, management accounts and VAT returns
  • Expereince in supporting and training junior team members
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS102 and FRS105
