A bit about the role

KeyResponsibilitiess

Planning

  • Work closely with our supportive Marketing and Fundraising Manager to create an annual plan of activities to generate unrestricted income from a variety of sources and meet fundraising goals.
  • Support the marketing content plan with content with the creation of fundraising materials and resources.
  • Identify key target audiences to encourage fundraising, e.g., growth in both individual and corporate donations.

Events and Activities

  • Coordinate and lead fundraising activities across the organisation, including supporting local events such as the Great North Run and Great North Swim.

Relationship Management

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with donors to Newcastle Carers, including exploring ways to provide excellent stewardship and supporter experience by acknowledging contributions and providing regular updates on the impact of their support.
  • Engage with local businesses and organisations to actively develop relationships for donations, gifts in kind, sponsorship opportunities, payroll giving and staff involvement via event participation.
  • Support individuals who wish to develop their own fundraising initiatives to benefit Newcastle Carers.
  • Network with other Fundraisers to stay informed about industry trends and current best practices.
  • Responsibility for thanking all donors.

Marketing

  • Develop marketing according to the brand guidelines, using consistent brand assets and a uniform tone of voice for the brand across all channels of communication.
  • Work alongside the supportive Marketing and Fundraising Team to create engaging and compelling content, e.g., for our website, news articles, eBulletins, and social media.

General

  • Track the income generation alongside the Marketing and Fundraising Manager to ensure income is accurately monitored.
  • Explore a diverse range of unrestricted income sources.
  • Effectively evaluate and analyse the work of all fundraising activities alongside the Marketing and Fundraising Manager.
  • Work with the Management and Leadership Teams to explore ethical fundraising and understand how we can maximise income from suitable sources.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the work of Newcastle Carers.

Person Specification:
Knowledge, Experience and Skills


  • Relevant experience or training in the field of fundraising.
  • Experience in planning, coordinating and evaluating events.
  • Significant experience in using and managing digital and marketing platforms, e.g., Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Mailchimp, JustGiving, and an understanding of best practices.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and/or Canva, and WordPress.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships.
  • A high level of confidence in using IT systems, preferably with experience in using Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise.
  • Strong organisation skills and numeracy skills, including being able to keep accurate records.
  • Resilient, demonstrating stamina and ability to bounce back.
  • An excellent team worker open and communicative, keen to help others achieve their objectives, with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms
  • Creative problem solver, keen to find better ways to deliver tasks and objectives.
  • Understanding of data protection and confidentiality.
